2025 Reflections

Hiya;

It’s that odd time of the year where many of us feel like we are in time-line limbo. We are days away from welcoming 2026 and all of the potential that can come to life. And yet we are reflective of all the dreams, aspirations, and happenings this year.

Emotionally, we are a mixture of feeling vulnerable and excited. We are putting our heads and hearts together making rough plans for 2026, while giving ourselves time to recharge. We have big publishing plans for 2026 and we feel confident that you will find them beneficial.

It has been a busy and amazing week for us and we are feeling slothy today.

We got to play Santa at Prairie Elder Care Day Program and play the handpan at PEC East house this week. That was a lot of fun.

Poetry Reading on Grief & Loss | “The Language of Rain” by Delaina J Miller

This poem offers space to feel, remember, and grieve without needing to fix anything.

I wrote “The Language of Rain” on a day when it was raining and I was thinking about my brother who died too young and by his own hand. As I watched the rain I felt like the sky was crying for me and all of us that are missing the physical presence of our loved ones and friends.

 

The Language of Rain

What does a raindrop feel before it shatters on pavement? Does it scream? Does it find wholeness when it sees its own reflection in the puddle?

When it rains, I wonder what my brother’s last thoughts were. Held in Death’s embrace, his voice muffled by starling feathers in another realm. Back then, I missed his cry for help.

I still ask and listen.

If I learn the language of rain, would I hear his answer? Meanwhile, my hands instinctively cup and catch the droplets to place them gently in the chasm of puddles.

I’m not sure if it’s an act of penance or devotion. Or the buoyancy of hope that the voice of the unrescuable will float to the surface just to scream in a rainstorm.

I hope this poem speaks to you in the quiet ways love continues after our physical goodbyes. And brings you comfort in your own moments of sorrow. We are lucky to know grief because that means we know love.

Snuggie Saturday

Ahh Saturday!

Saturday’s for us tend to be full of projects or peace. Today we are doing a little bit of both so that we bring more hygge vibes in everyday. We’ve got projects (who doesn’t right?) but we will also take time to read by the fireplace.

Delaina was hoping to announce a new sleep video today but she has run into some technical fumbles so fingers crossed that it’s lulling us to sleep by Saturday.

Kristin is having fun designing new puzzles for our next activity book. We think it will reel you in. 😉

We wish you a Snuggie Saturday full of warm drinks, laughter, and pleasant memories.

What are you looking forward to the most during Cozy Season?

Cozy Monday

Happy First Day of December or Cyber Monday or as we are calling it Cozy Monday! 

We don’t know if you feel the same way but it has been a year. So for the rest of 2025 and the winter season we are going full on cozy or maybe the Norwegians call it best––hygge.

Already we have started breathing a little more space into our day by relaxing earlier in the day, sipping warm tea, watching the snow fall today, and tonight we going to sleep early.

We are both taking more time for self-care, reading, and learning gently (not like our livelihood depends on it).

Hiya;
One of the things we are grateful for is our business. It’s just the two of us here at Content X Design. At the start, we published marketing content for small business and inspirational content for adult students. Eventually we moved fully into a small press.

 When family needed us to step into the role of full time caregivers we did grateful for the flexibility of our business. We simply scaled back on publishing books and started publishing pdfs and music that helped us take care of our loved ones.

 Because of that we have an ever-growing line of caregiver resources—Hello Caregiving. And just this year we managed to publish full length books again. We published two poetry collections, Paper Birds and the Anniversary edition of She Too. Along with our first full length activity book, The Handyman Special.

 Business and life go hand-in-hand for us and we are going to keep evolving in our business as we do in life. Because of that, we are publishing our books, as much as possible, through IngramSpark so that our values are inline with our business goals.

Today driving around we find ourselves mesmerized by the giant leaves churning in the wind. The ground is a golden sea. The heavy scent of soaked leaves becoming soil has our senses tingling. This planet is so amazingly beautiful. How wonderful it is to rest in light healthy hibernation.
