Gratitude Monday

Hiya;

Here we are, the week of Thanksgiving in the US. It’s a great week to let the healing energy of gratitude course through our bodies. Some things we are grateful for feel big (family, good health etc..) and some are small (warm drinks and hot showers anyone?). But big or small, we are grateful for it all.

We are extremely grateful for you and your presence in our lives.

What is your favorite part of Thanksgiving week?

A Rainbow Heart in a Puddle of Gold

Hiya;

We know you didn’t sign up to get weather reports from us, but we finally got some much needed rain here in Kansas, giving us a chance to share more photos. A rainbow heart in a puddle of gold were the words that came to mind with this photo. Sounds like a poem to us. Feel free to write your own and share it with us.

And yes, we did just share a photo of the pear tree in the backyard but the rain has darkened the trunk and in the cloudy sky you can really see the three distinct colors of the leaves so we are sharing a photo again.

Please share your autumn pictures with us. We love this time of year.

✨ Norwex Living

Not to get too personal but we both had appointments with our dental hygienist yesterday and received confirmation on the lack of build up on our teeth. We are giving credit to our Norwex toothbrushes and toothpaste. The brushes contain silver which helps eliminate bacteria. And the toothpaste is probiotic. We already felt the difference in our brushing experiences. But it’s great that the hygienist confirmed our feelings.

Thank you for supporting us and our small business. We hope you enjoy the music, downloads, and fun with your family.

In love, light, and holiday vibes,
Delaina and Kristin

Autumn Delights

Hiya;

Autumn is in full bloom here in Kansas. The leaves on our pear tree are turning from unripe green to ripened gold. We call it the prince of trees because it needs so much tending to grow healthy and strong. And what a fabulous prince it is right now.

Making a Difference: It’s why we do what we do

It is so easy to get caught up in events happening around us. Life! Things that feel out of our control, or so heavy we don’t even know where to begin. It can feel like we are in a constant state of mourning.

It is times like these when the Fred Rogers quote gets me through. Because it is true, there are helpers everywhere. I just need to look. Some of these helpers have heroic careers facing big challenges. Some helpers are people doing simple acts that are kind.

You, for instance, are a helper. You might not even be aware how much you helped someone yesterday or this morning even. But chances are extremely high that you have. You might not  even know how you helped someone simply by being yourselves. Heck, you might not know if your kindness is even seen. But I promise you, your kind acts are always felt.

All of us are the helpers in any given moment, walking the walk and living the talk. When overwhelm gets too much, lean into your helper mode a bit more. This will help you see your own power in the situation. And your attention on helping will create more ease to see other helpers.

The best part is you don’t even have to step outside our comfort zones. You instinctively change your world with your natural actions. And create a chain reaction by giving care. Thanks, for making a difference. Thank you for sharing your light. Thank you for all the love you bring into the world through your creations.

Kristin and I are grateful for you. And we support you and your endeavors. That is why we do what we do.

We are always adding and collecting resources on our Hello Caregiving YouTube channel. Our newest is Laughter Yoga. We will be sharing much more but you can get started now and laugh your way to less stress and a happier life.

On Etsy we have activity sheets and inspiring tools to help give you a little boost and support you on your caregiver journey.

There are all sorts of books from coloring to poetry including Kristin’s new activity book, “The Handyman Special…,” that you can give to your aging loved one or do with them to build happy memories.

And offer music, the magical mood shifter. Delaina’s collection is on our website and on YouTube.

Tell us what are your go to’s when you need an emotional boost?

With love and gratitude,

The Knock On My Door–A Poem

The Knock On My Door

Flushed with excitement, she asked

for pen and paper to capture

greatness ready to unfurl.

We had never met before,

but I knew her poems, that look

in her eyes mirroring my own.

I welcomed her in, offerings

placed on the kitchen table,

as, I quietly tried not to stare.

She held her pen

above the blank paper

like a word midsentence.

Then a whispering light

of energy flowed. The words

streamed as sunshine in a dark room.

Ink on paper, consciousness

flowing from the forgotten

onto the threads of trees

to illuminate the stargazing me,

breath held, the tension

or intention to swim

in the magic of connection,

poets prompting each other on

while sharing a pot of tea.

     The vastness of mysteries,

     the sacredness of passage,

     the unity of desire

     pulse from our hearts,

     bleeding onto paper,

     lettered in black and blue.

     Our fragile, fleeting

     stanzas become markers

     of our shared human destiny.

     And when we wait

     for the knock on the door,

     we may answer to find

     a star-filled universe spilling open

     on our doormats. And we, full

     of wonder, invite it in for a cup of tea.

Music is Magic–Amplify Joy

Hiya;

One of the common discussions we had with fellow caregivers during The Heartland Caregiving Conference by Sandwiched KC,  was the magical effect music has on our loved ones. We were mostly referencing how engaging sing-alongs are, and how songs help, especially with dementia, bridge the mind’s time gap to happier and fulfilling memories and moments.

As vibrational beings we have the power to amplify joy and our health with simple sounds. The gentle tide of breath, the unassuming hum, and the practice of laughter, have all been scientifically proven to help our bodies reduce depression, stress, anxiety, and even boost our immune systems.

Our caregiver journey began, like many, suddenly. Communication was the biggest challenge we faced helping our loved one. So we did what we do, we researched solutions. Kristin found stroke recovery activities and started creating activity sheets.  Delaina began online sound therapy classes and now creates handpan music.

We both love how music calms and connects our loved ones. And how it helps us tune-in to our wellbeing and joy. Some of our daily favorites can be found here: Centerpoint’s Holosync, Hello Caregiving’s sing-a-longs and more, and Delaina’s various musical offerings.

Thank you for being in our lives and letting us be in yours. We hope we have helped you in some way find your vibe. Also sharing is caring so please share your go to music hubs with us.

In love and gratitude,
Delaina and Kristin

Building Connections

Hiya;

Oh my gosh what a great time we had at the Sandwiched KC’s Heartland Caregiving Conference. It has been a long time since we sponsored a table at an event. And Rachel Hiles and her crew at Sandwiched KC did a wonderful job. The event was full of nurturing breakout sessions as well as vendors and sponsors like us that sincerely support caregivers on the journey.

And at the end, thanks to the genius that is Danielle Ate the Sandwich, we created a song together. Caregivers wrote caregiving words that are important to them on a poster and Danielle put the words to a chorus and created this years Caregiver Anthem. How incredible is that?

Rachel said that her reason for doing all of this was so that caregivers don’t feel alone. We think that is what attracted us to the event in the first place. Caregiving can feel isolating and many times (a day) caregivers feel underappreciated and undersupported. It was clear to see during the Heartland Caregivers Conference that caregivers are not alone. We are so grateful we were able to stand with our fellow caregivers.

We are especially grateful for the connections we made with the caregivers that stopped by our table. Kristin and I were both surprised and delighted to see people’s eyes light up when they learned we were fellow caregivers sharing what works for us. To think that not only is our caregiver journey helping our loved ones but that our creations are helping other families. Maybe, this sounds daft. After all, why be there if we didn’t think we would be helpful, right? But that is just the thing, sometimes we are so deep into it that we miss noticing how helpful and valuable we can be.

To our fellow family caregivers, thank you. Thank you for what you do day in and day out for your loved ones. Thank you for stopping by our table and letting us share our passion of family caregiving.

With love and gratitude,
Delaina and Kristin

Fresh Offerings for Caregivers and Halloween Treats

Hiya;
Happy Halloween & Blessed Samhain. Kristin and I could not think of a better treat than to announce our sweet new offerings for Caregivers.

First up, The Handyman Special: An Activity book for People Who Love To Fix Things, is a new activity book for the fixer in your life that loves a good puzzle and would enjoy those puzzles even more in large print and simplified so they can feel the success of achievement. This book is the first in our Smart Brain Series and features logic puzzles such as: Sudoku, Word Search, Number, Finds, Spot the Difference, and Mazes. These are similar games we did with our loved one to help him stay engaged and feel purpose when he could no longer do what he used to do. This 108 page book is available on Amazon and soon other retailers as well.

Next up are two new Caregiver Quick Guides. Our “Busy Box Basics” is a six page guide to help the family caregiver create moments of nostalgia and connection with their loved one using an assortment of items that mean something and/or relative to their loved ones interests. “Doll Therapy 101” is a five page guide to using dolls as a way to help calm and restore a sense of purpose for a loved one with dementia. We used both of these methods to help keep our loved one engaged and focused. Both are available on Etsy to download today.

As long as you are checking out our Etsy shop, grab some Halloween Activity Sheets and Coloring Pages for some family entertainment. And grab one of our Halloween Countdown Sheets (the playlist is the same for both styles). Yes, today is the day but the QR code will take you to a playlist of vintage songs that will get your goblins dancing and singing, setting a perfect atmosphere for completing your Halloween themed party.

Please let us know how the activity book, Quick Guides, and Activities work for you and your loved one.

With love and gratitude,
Delaina and Kristin
