Hiya!
We hope your week is off to a great start.
There is a new video of Delaina reading one of her poems from Paper Birds, “Tell-Tale Cliches for Caregivers.” The poem is one of the many poems that Delaina touches on the multi-faceted emotions of caregiving. The cliches in the poem act as fractions of familiarity and a nod to the disconnect of dementia. At the same time the poem is written in such a way that the line between caregiver and their charge blurs just enough that we can see how both depend on each other.
The hope of the poem is that we can step back and stand witness to the idea that we don’t walk the path of life alone. Even in our most challenging moments there are connections.
Let us know: what do you think of the poem? Does it resonate with you on some level?
As always, thank you for being in our lives.
In love, light, and poetry,
Delaina and Kristin
